The paper crackled in Amelia’s trembling hands. The eviction notice. Again. Her shoulders slumped, the weight of the world suddenly pressing down. She barely registered the cramped, dimly lit apartment, the chipped paint on the walls, the overflowing laundry basket. Her stomach churned, a cold knot forming deep inside. "Not again," she whispered, her voice barely audible. Exhaustion was a physical thing, a heavy blanket she couldn't shrug off. She sank onto the threadbare couch, the springs protesting under her weight, a low groan mirroring the one in her own chest.
